What I’m reading now

Updated: Oct 27, 2020

“Which way will the sunflower turn surrounded by a million suns?”—Allen Ginsberg

You walk into your favorite bookstore, and you are surrounded by millions of quality books. What to read next? To give you some ideas, I wanted to share with you the series I’m currently reading.

I’ve just started the fifth book of the Shardlake Series of historical mystery novels. C.J. Sansom, a British writer of historical crime novels, is the author of the series. These excellent novels are set in the reign of Henry VIII in the 16th century. The hero of the novels is the hunchbacked lawyer Matthew Shardlake.

Here is a list of novels in the Matthew Shardlake Series (so far):

Dissolution. London: Macmillan. ISBN 1-4050-0542-4.

Dark Fire. London: Macmillan. ISBN 1-4050-0544-0.

Sovereign. London: Macmillan. ISBN 0-3304-3608-2.

Revelation. London: Macmillan. ISBN 0-3304-47106.

Heartstone. London: Mantle. ISBN 978-1405092739.

Lamentation. London: Mantle. ISBN 978-1447260257.

Tombland. London: Mantle. ISBN 978-1447284482.

And good news for my fellow Sansom fans. The author has stated that he plans to continue the series into the reign of Elizabeth I.

If you like both history and mysteries, give this series a try. I give it four out of five stars.

Enjoy!
